Clinical term vaginal discharge
Bacterial vaginosis is a type of vaginal inflammation caused by the overgrowth of bacteria naturally found in the vagina, which upsets the natural balance. Women in their reproductive years are most likely to get bacterial vaginosis, but it can affect women of any age. The cause isn't completely understood, but certain activities, such as unprotected sex or frequent douching, increase your risk. Bacterial vaginosis results from overgrowth of one of several bacteria naturally found in your vagina.

Vaginitis - Wikipedia
Do you know the difference between normal vaginal discharge and abnormal vaginal discharge? Having discharge is a natural part of having a vagina, but sometimes changes in it can signal a problem. The basic function of your vagina is to provide a route from the outside of your vagina to your uterus and the rest of your internal reproductive system. The natural, acidic, pH of your vagina acts to prevent infections and is caused by natural, good, bacteria present in your vagina.

Throughout the month, the vagina normal secretes a transparent or white-colored fluid. Generally, the fluid has minimal odor, although this can change if the woman has a yeast infection or a pH imbalance. The fluid changes throughout the menstrual cycle in quantity, color and consistency. If you are dealing with green discharge from your vagina, it is most likely a sign of an infection or another medical disorder.
